Fencing and gates

Fence and gate repairs in Nuneaton

Fences fail in a particular order. A post goes first, at ground level where the wet sits, and the panels either side start to move because there is nothing holding them square.

What this covers

Posts, panels, gravel boards, arris rails, gates, latches and hinges. Re-fixing what has worked loose, replacing what has rotted, and getting gates to swing and shut properly again.

Where a post has gone we take it out and set a new one, rather than propping the old one and hoping. Gates are made to fit the opening rather than bought to a standard size, because openings here are rarely standard and a gate trimmed to fit is a gate that will drop.

Common jobs

  • Leaning or rocking posts re-set, or replaced where the base has gone
  • Panels re-fixed, refitted or replaced individually
  • Gates eased, re-hung and adjusted so they close on the latch
  • Hinges, latches, bolts and gate stops renewed
  • Gravel boards fitted to keep timber out of the wet
  • Storm damage made safe first, then repaired properly

Ground, and why it matters here

A fence post is only as good as what it is standing in. Much of this part of Warwickshire sits on clay, which shrinks in a dry summer and swells again in winter. That movement is what works a post loose over a few seasons, long before the timber itself has failed.

It is why we would rather set a new post properly than pack out the old one, and why we will tell you when a run has two more winters in it rather than selling you a full replacement today.

Estate fencing and boundary runs

On the larger estates, St Nicolas Park, Horeston Grange, Whitestone, the boundaries were put in all at once when the houses went up, which means they tend to fail all at once too. If your neighbour has just had theirs done, yours is probably next.

Access on the older streets

Terraces around Attleborough, Stockingford and Camp Hill often have no side access at all. Panels and posts come through the house or over the top, which is a different job and a different price. We work that out at the visit, not on the day.

Whose fence is it

We will tell you plainly which side is likely yours, but we will not decide it for you and we will not get between neighbours. If ownership is unclear, that is a conversation to have first, and we are happy to wait.

Waste

Taking an old fence out produces waste. It is priced separately and shown on the quote, never assumed and never hidden in the total.

Repair or replace

A single blown-down panel is usually a half day. A run where the posts have gone is a different piece of work, and we will say so at the visit rather than afterwards. Where a fence is past repairing, patching it is money spent twice, and we will price the repair and the replacement side by side so you can choose.

Also worth knowing

Our work is guaranteed for twelve months, covering our workmanship, the fitting and the hanging. Products carry their own manufacturer guarantee, and if one fails we handle the claim for you at no charge.

We work across Nuneaton and its estates, and out across Warwickshire and the counties either side. If you are not sure whether we come to you, just ask.

Book a visit

We will walk the run with you, test the posts, and put the findings in writing. The visit and the quote are free, with no obligation afterwards.
