What we do
Seven kinds of work
Most of what we do is small. Some of it is not. Either is fine, and one visit can clear a list rather than becoming seven separate call outs.
Gutters and drainage
Clearing, resealing and re-fixing gutters and downpipes, and checking gullies and surface drains.
Fencing and gates
Posts, panels, gates, latches and hinges, put right before the winter wind finds the weak one.
Property maintenance
The small jobs that accumulate, plus exterior sealing around doors, windows and timber sills.
Carpentry
Repairs and adjustments to existing timber: sticking doors, skirting, architrave, trims and drawers.
Doors, locks and security
Doors, handles, locks, hardware, hinges and draught proofing, left working properly.
Shelving and fixings
Shelving, wall fixings, television mounting, mirrors, blinds and curtain poles, including difficult walls.
Managed work
Decorating, building and external maintenance run through us using trusted trades.
How the work is carried out
A slot we keep, and a price in writing
Site visits are booked into set weekly windows rather than squeezed in around other jobs, so the slot you choose is the slot you get.
After the visit you get a written quote setting out the work, what it will cost and what we would leave alone. Nothing is booked until you say so.
Where something cannot or should not be done, we say so and explain the options, including the option of leaving it for now.
Waste removal
Rubbish and waste removal is never included as standard. Where a job needs it, it is priced separately and shown on the quote.
Materials over £60
Where materials come to more than £60, we take a 40% deposit before work starts. Everything else is due on completion.

About
Michael, and why Mendwell works this way
Before doing this full time, Michael worked as a software engineer. That work taught him structure, precision and the habit of getting details right.
He noticed how rarely those qualities showed up in the trades, particularly in communication and in turning up when expected. Mendwell exists to change that.
He and his wife are raising young twins, and the business is built to last: honesty, respect, and pride in every job. We are based in Nuneaton and travel widely from there.

We work across Warwickshire and the counties either side, including Bedworth, Hinckley, Atherstone and Coventry, along with the villages in between. That is a starting point rather than a boundary.
