uPVC door and window repairs
Doors and windows put right properly, whoever fitted them, on a planned visit with the price agreed in writing first.
What this covers
- Front, back and conservatory doors in uPVC or composite that have dropped, catch on the frame or need lifting to lock.
- uPVC door locks that have failed, where the handle will not lift, the key will not turn or the door will not open.
- Worn gearboxes and multi-point lock strips, replaced with a matching part.
- Broken or loose hinges and handles, on doors and windows.
- Windows that will not close or lock, with worn handles, stays or friction hinges.
- Misted or failed glass units, replaced in the existing frame.
- A full door overhaul: adjusted, lubricated and cleaned front and back, so it closes on the latch and locks with one hand.
Doors and windows we did not fit
Many installers will only come back to their own work, and some are no longer trading. We work on uPVC and composite doors and windows whoever fitted them, and however old they are.
If a door or window is still under its installer’s guarantee, tell us first, so nothing we do affects it.
What usually goes wrong
A door that has stopped locking. This is most often the gearbox inside the lock, not the handle or the barrel. The gearbox is a part that can be matched and replaced. It rarely means a new door.
A door that catches or needs a push. Doors drop a little over the years and move between summer and winter. Most can be lifted and squared again by adjusting the hinges and keeps, with no new parts at all.
Misted glass. Condensation between the panes means the seal on that unit has failed. The glass unit is made to measure and fitted into the frame you already have. The frame stays.
How we work
- We look first and explain what we found, in plain terms, before anything is changed.
- We tell you what can be put right by adjustment and what needs a part, and we agree any part with you before it is fitted.
- Floors are covered and the door and frame are left clean.
- Before you sign off, you open, close and lock the door yourself.
Our workmanship is guaranteed for twenty-four months. That covers the fitting and the hanging. Exterior paintwork, stains and sealant are guaranteed for twelve months. The product itself, whoever supplies it, is covered by the manufacturer’s own guarantee. If a product does fail, we handle the manufacturer claim for you at no charge.
How booking works
We visit before we quote, so the price is for your door or window as it is, not a guess from a photo. The visit and the written quote are free, and there is no obligation.
We work Monday to Thursday. Friday is our office day, kept for quotes, ordering parts and answering people.
