Most trades will take any job that comes in. We would rather tell you up front when we are not the right fit, so nobody wastes a visit.
If you want the cheapest quote
We will not be it, and we are not trying to be. We fit solid core doors rather than hollow ones, three hinges rather than two, and we protect the room before we start. Those things cost a little more and they are why the work lasts. If the lowest number is what matters most, another trade will serve you better and there is no hard feeling in that.
If you want a price from a photo
We visit before we quote, every time. A photo shows the style of a door but not whether the frame is square, and that is what decides the price. A visit takes about half an hour and you get a fixed price in writing. If you need a number today without anyone coming out, we are not the right call.
If you want to pay by the hour
We price the job, not the hours, so you know the figure before we start and it does not move unless we find something we could not have seen. We do offer a service rate for small odd jobs that cannot be priced ahead, but we steer people away from it, because it is not the cheap option and it means turning up unprepared.
If you need a fire door
A fire door is a certified product with seals and specific fittings. We fit solid core doors for durability; they are not fire doors and we will never describe them as one. Where a fire door is genuinely required, between a garage and the house for example, we say so and quote it as a separate, certified job.
If you need someone at the weekend
We work Monday to Thursday. Friday is our office day, kept for quotes, planning and ordering, which is what keeps the other four days running to time. Weekend work is not something we offer.
If you need it done today
We plan every job before the day, which is why the day goes smoothly. It also means we are rarely able to drop everything for a same-day call-out.
