What will it cost?

Most trades will not put a price on their website. We think that is unhelpful. Answer a few questions and you will get a realistic range for a new internal door, based on the same prices we quote from.

How many doors?
Which style?

Both are our standard solid core door, white primed and ready for painting. They cost the same.

Is the doorway a standard size?

Standard internal doors are 610, 686, 762 or 838mm wide. Measure between the frame at the top, the middle and the bottom, and use the smallest.

Is the frame staying?

The frame is the timber lining the doorway. If it is loose, split or out of square, a new door will never hang well in it.

New architrave?

The trim around the doorway. A new frame usually means new architrave.

What the price includes.

  • The door. A solid core door, not hollow. It feels substantial, it does not dent through, and the hinge screws have something solid to bite into.
  • Three hinges on every door, not two. Two hinges on a heavy door is why doors drop and catch.
  • A latch and a chrome lever handle on a round rose, the Newington Rose set, fitted both sides at the height of your existing doors.
  • Trimming, hanging and adjusting until it shuts without rattling and stays where you leave it.
  • Every planed edge sanded smooth and eased, ready for decorating.
  • Covering the room and the route in, and cleaning up after.

What it does not include. Painting, the door comes primed. Taking the old door away, which we can price if you want it. Plastering or making good. Fire doors, which are a different product and quoted separately.

Different handles. The figure above is based on our standard set. A different handle, or matching something already in the house, changes the price. We will price it at the visit.

Why we visit before quoting. A photograph shows us the style of door. It does not show us whether the frame is square or the opening is a standard size, and those are what decide the price. The visit takes about half an hour and you get a fixed price in writing, so there are no surprises on the day.
